WELCOME TO A COLD AND Chilly MT ABU

Winter has arrived early this year in Mount Abu, bringing its signature chill to our serene hill station. The residents, known as Abuites, experienced the unmistakable signs of the season’s arrival by the end of October.
Day temperatures have remained pleasant, perfect for those daytime strolls, while nights started turning colder. This November, the thermometer confirmed winter’s arrival. On the 14th, the mercury dipped to 5°C, and since then, night temperatures have descended toward the zero-degree mark. For the past week, nights have hovered around freezing, with whispers of frost on the horizon.

Mount Abu Extremely Hot! Summer’s Hottest Ever

IMD Issues A Red Alert For The Next Five Days Throughout North India

"Weather forecast on the phone for Mount Abu"
Weather forecast on the phone for Mount Abu

Known for being a refreshing getaway during the intense Indian summer, Mount Abu is experiencing unheard-of temperatures. This summer has been the hottest on record for this century, with temperatures in the area reaching a scorching 43°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD have issued a red signal) for extreme heatwave conditions expected to affect North India over the next five days, with temperatures to rise over 47°C. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), regions such as Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh will be affected by the predicted heat wave.

Effects on Environment and Daily Life

The intense heat affects the ecology and daily life. There are tales of birds dying from the intense heat, and labourers tired from working in the scorching sun. Frequent power outages are making matters worse by making people uncomfortable and making it difficult for them to cope, especially older adults.

As the warmth continues and water shortages are devastating the vegetation, the situation has forced schools to close. The harsh weather is causing chaos in every facet of life, making the situation catastrophic.

Heatwave: Its Wider Consequences

The heat wave, which started in mid-May, is anticipated to have an impact on future elections, food prices, and obtaining water. El Niño circumstances made last year’s 2023 the warmest year on record in 122 years. Despite its decline, El Niño appears to have had a lasting effect, as evidenced by India’s scorching summer.

Electronic Devices Sensing the Heat

Our electronic gadgets are being affected by the intense heat besides people and the environment. My phone is alerting me to warnings like “Phone overheating” and “WhatsApp is causing your phone to overheat” as I’m writing this blog. In 20 seconds, it will close." Similar alerts have even come from Google. It’s a first for me and shows just how widespread and intense the effects of this scorching summer are.

Looking Ahead: Forecasts and Apprehensions

What awaits us as this summer draws to a close? What impact will these high temperatures have on the general well-being of Indian residents and the upcoming elections? As the nation prepares for more sweltering days to come, these questions are quite apparent. The immediate future seems difficult since quick action is required to lessen the effects of the heat wave and guarantee public safety and comfort.

As we navigate through this record-breaking summer, stay tuned for additional updates. In these difficult times, remember to stay hydrated, spend as much time inside as you can, and look out for one another.

World Sparrow Day Tomorrow 20 March 2024.

Celebrate the Joyful Chirps: World Sparrow Day at Mount Abu.

As the calendar approaches March 20th, 2024, the globe prepares to commemorate Globe Sparrow Day, a day dedicated to these wonderful feathered companions that brighten our skies with their presence. And among the calm highlands of Mount Abu, the occasion is especially significant.

In the charming town of Mount Abu, hidden amidst the Aravalli Range, the locals, lovingly known as Abuites, have taken on the responsibility of caring for their local sparrow population. Reflecting on my earlier posts on the sparrows of Mount Abu, it’s encouraging to watch the united efforts of Abuites to nurture and preserve these treasured birds.

We faithfully place daily offerings of bajra and other bird seeds strategically to increase their numbers and ensure a healthy meal for these small feathered buddies. To add to the attractiveness, little birdhouses dot the landscape, attracting sparrows to settle there and developing a community among the birds.

Decades ago, a dismal fall hovered over the sparrow population, casting a shadow on their once-frequent encounters. However, today’s optimistic revival portrays a different image. With careful attention and conservation initiatives, the sparrow population has made a promising recovery. Even the yellow-throated sparrows join in the music of nature’s orchestra as they fly across the beautiful hills.

In this spirit, we encourage residents to partake by registering their conservation efforts on www.worldsparrowday.org, creating a global network of guardians committed to protecting these.

As World Sparrow Day approaches, let us recommit our dedication to conserving the magnificent tapestry of biodiversity that surrounds our globe. In nature’s delicate balance, every flutter of a sparrow’s wing is a monument to perseverance, reminding us of our inherent connectivity. We should join forces to guarantee that the delightful melody of sparrows keeps echoing across the valleys of Mount Abu and beyond.

Mount Abu Weather Update.

Discovering Nature’s Whims: Mount Abu Weather Update.

Mount Abu temperature reading on Saturday

Nestled amidst Rajasthan’s stunning landscapes, Mount Abu has long grabbed travellers’ hearts with its ever-changing weather scenario. From the warm embrace of sunny days to the turbulent dance of thunderstorms, untangling the whims of nature in this mysterious place is no simple task.
As February ended, signalling the start of a hopeful spring, Mount Abu played its own hand. Despite initial reports of a peaceful shift to warmer weather, weather experts warned of an imminent storm with strong winds and the chance of hail or rain. True to their forecasts, a huge ruckus rolled through, throwing a shadow across the hillside. Gloomy clouds shrouded Saturday, and occasional rains dampened the mood of weekend revellers.
But, just when we thought we’d seen the last of winter’s chill, nature reminded us of its unexpected ways. Sunday awoke with a bitter cold, with temperatures plunging below zero—a stark contrast to the balmy winters we had accustomed to. Surprisingly, the night air became much colder, reaching a bone-chilling -3 degrees.

As we prepare for the approaching days, it appears Mount Abu is not quite ready to say goodbye to winter just yet. March, a sign of warmer weather, is experiencing a chilly period. It’s as if the gods of this place are unravelling nature’s riddles, hoping to predict what the future holds for this charming hill resort.
So, as we traverse this temperature and mood variations, one thing is certain: Mount Abu’s fascination lies not only in its stunning scenes but also in the bewildering tapestry of weather patterns that continue to enchant and beguile those who visit its holy grounds.

Mount Abu weather forecast: cold wave alert!

Mount Abu welcomes the first cold wave, revealing a winter wonderland.

The Meteorological Department predicts Mount Abu, the magnificent hill station in the Aravalli Range, will experience its first cold wave from January 5 to January 11, 2024. Last night, the temperature dropped to a bone-chilling -3 degrees Celsius, adorning the town in an icy vision photographed by the temperature gauge.

A Chilly Run-up: In the latter days of November, indicators pointed to the prospect of a frosty winter piqued Abuites’ interest. However, December was pleasantly surprising, with nighttime temperatures comfortably hanging around zero degrees for most of the month.
Frosty mornings and magical evenings:
As dawn dawned this morning, massive pockets of frost covered big pockets of fields, converting Mount Abu into a winter wonderland. I expect the next several days to be cold, with fog creating a beautiful spell in the mornings and nights. This enticing weather enchants the residents and brings many tourists to this small hill station, eager to experience the distinctive attractiveness of a frost-kissed landscape.
Greetings from The Abode of Gods: and a “Happy New Year”
With this being the first blog post of the year, I’d like to convey my sincere greetings to all my readers. I wish you a wonderful New Year filled with love, laughter, and the delight of shared moments from the magnificent world of Mount Abu. May the next year be a tapestry of amazing events, much like Mount Abu’s frost-kissed landscapes. Accept the chill, relish the magic, and let the winter winds take you into a year full of warmth and wonder. Cheers to the year 2024!
