This is going to be another visit by Smt. Vasundhara Raje to the Abode, Abuites rejoice every time official dignitaries visit this minute hill station as it becomes a blessing in disguise. I will not elaborate on the blessings as they take place all over our country. To read more on our honourable Chief Minister, read my prior post.

Baby Monkey survives electrocution. Mount Abu.

Miracles do happen baby monkey survives high tension jolt.

It was a little after 4 p.m. this evening when I heard a loud boom from the high-tension wires that passed by our house. My first thought was gosh. “Lights Have gone”, I asked Liz if they had gone she replied Nope. I assumed that some large bird had been electrocuted On looking towards the road I saw monkeys on the little hillock and they seemed agitated. Harry had just landed up at that moment I requested him to have a look if an unfortunate monkey had been a victim of the unguarded high-tension wires near the poles. Previously I had witnessed two Palm Civet cats being electrocuted in the same place. 

When Harry went to have a look, he was almost attacked by the alpha male and a female monkey. He managed to shoo them away and after a short while saw a diminutive monkey lying in the grass by the side of the stream.

When I had gone to see and snap the fallen monkey, the monkeys all moved down and if they had not been threatened by Harry would have probably attacked us.

I next phoned our PFA person and requested that someone be sent to the location to recover the fallen baby monkey. 

At around 5 pm Harry noticed movement from the little guy by the side of the stream. My neighbour Bheru had also landed up and he phoned the compounder of the veterinarian department to come and take the little guy to the hospital. At around 4:45 pm when Bheru saw the little fellow dragging himself towards the water of the stream, he jumped down the embankment lifted the little guy and placed him on the rock.

None of us had expected him to survive 

After about 10 minutes I suddenly saw the little bloke sit up 

Wow, some miracle.

Kaizad from the PFA had landed and had sent his man to get the Baby monkey to 

Take it to the vet.

As soon as the little fellow was placed in the van, the mother monkey came running to claim her baby. They put him down on the road, and she immediately picked him up and took off with the rest of the monkeys. Hope he survives.

The infamous water hyacinth has taken root in the calm highlands of Mount Abu, famed as the abode of gods, and spread its emerald tentacles over a thousand freshwater bodies worldwide. The Water Hyacinth Mystery: A perplexing mystery surrounds the water hyacinth in Mount Abu. Abuites in the region recall a time when this invasive plant was absent from their scenic landscapes. The shift occurred sometime between the swinging sixties and the eventful eighties, leaving many to wonder how this green intruder infiltrated the sanctity of the hill station.

An Abuite’s Story: Harnam, often known as Harry, a seasoned Abu inhabitant, solves the mystery underlying the water hyacinth’s arrival at Mount Abu. Based on his account, the invasion commenced with a grand wedding reception years ago. A surplus of colourful flowers and plants, including the unwary water hyacinth, made its way to the hills as part of the festivities.

After the festivities came to an end, the surplus decorative plants became a treasure trove for the Abuites, as they were sold at discounted prices. Nobody knew that among the brilliant blossoms, the water hyacinth had tucked itself into the streams along the pilgrim route. The unsuspecting introduction of this innocuous plant would quickly create an environmental threat to Mount Abu’s water ecosystems.

The Unexpected Consequences of That Joyous Celebration: The water hyacinth, once an exotic addition, has morphed into a green threat, spreading its tentacles throughout Mount Abu’s freshwater bodies. The invasive nature of this plant has alarmed residents, environmentalists, and officials alike, causing authorities to take immediate measures to stop its growth.

Conclusion: The water hyacinth, a quiet invader whose beginnings may be traced back to a time of celebration and flowery excess, now has Mount Abu’s calm vistas in its grasp. As the green menace spreads, it serves as a harsh warning of the unforeseen environmental consequences that can result from seemingly innocuous activities. I’m sure this marathon must have been a daunting challenge to first-time participants. I can well imagine running a marathon cross country but one uphill all the way must have been gruelling even for the seasoned runners. I’m sure this event has been well received by all, Abuites are thrilled that such an event has been added to its annual event. I’m sure it's Popularity will be well-received world over not only will it attract top-notch marathon runners but tourists from all parts of the world to witness this annual event. Hopefully next year we see a greater crowd of participants taking part in this sport.

Before I wind off, I Appreciate the efforts put in by the local administration of the local Abuites and especially “The Brahma Kumari" for initiating and holding this yearly event.

The current world record for the half marathon is 58:23 minutes for men, set by Eritrea's Zersenay Tadese on 21 March 2010 at the Lisbon Half Marathon, and 64:51 minutes for women, set by Joyciline Jepkosgei of Kenya at the Valencia Half Marathon on 22 October 2017.

It hasn’t rained in Mount Abu for some time now. Yesterday we had a little rain accompanied by thunder. There seems to be a buildup of cloud cover and the Met Department predicts that there is an 80% chance of it raining on the 19 Aug 18. I hope it won’t be a gloomy, wet run. I believe around 1800 participants will be present for the challenge. The run from Abu Road to Mount Abu via Tiger Path is indeed a gruelling one. Only hope the weather holds long enough for those taking part to complete the race without the additional downpour if it occurs.

Monsoon update [ 11 August 2018 ] Mount Abu.

Rain-bearing clouds have disappointed the Abode of the Gods.

The heavy monsoon predicted by the met department for our region has gone up in a vapour. Our streams are a trickle, our lake and reservoir desperately need a filling or next year Abuites are gonna face water rationing on a larger scale.

The local Abuites and the Abu municipality have deemed it fit to have a “HAVAN” to appease the rain gods. Hopefully, it will rain for a few days at the end of the month and the beginning of September. Reports from Skymet are not too promising. Let’s watch and wait, man, proposes, but it’s nature that disposes of it.

Folktale has it that crows congregate and decide another species' capital fate. 

Many view the manifestation of crows as an omen. Well, the 2019 elections are around the corner. Will the coming elections be associated with "Aacha Din", especially in the state of the Rajputs, or will there be an upheaval that may be turbulent and detrimental to the stigmata of our state of being called ‘lychgate’? 

I'm sure there is trepidation about what the results of the coming elections are about bringing forth. I'm no soothsayer but I take it Bharat our nation will rise to the occasion and the folks will rejoice and see AACHA DIN.

The upcoming Half Marathon from Brahma Kumaris Shantivan Abu road to Brahma Kumaris Om Shanti Bhavan is now an annual event. It's a gruelling event as the participants have to run all the way up the hill from the plains to a height of 4000 feet. Runners from all parts of the globe take part. We are rooting for Sunil Lobaniya, a local marathon runner who has won the prize before. Looking forward to this event in another 13 days.
