St Mary’s High School

St. Mary’s was formerly known as Mount Abu Railway School (MARS). Mr Blood, Engineer in Chief of the B.B.& C.I Railway designed the School. The first headteacher was Rev. A.J. Clarkson. On July 2, 1887, the school started. Problems with enrollment affected the school drop to 30. The Government of India closed it and offered it to the Bishop of Ajmer. In 1929, the Christian Brothers took over the school and renamed it St. Mary’s. The school is about 4km from the town, surrounded by jungle. This location away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life offers students a calm and peaceful environment. The school has grown over time, now offering a full refectory with wholesome food for students' sporting activities. The school has six football pitches, three volleyball courts, and four basketball courts, it also has a swimming pool.
Education now begins from grade three and ends at grade twelve with a centralized ICSE board exam. Most of the boarding students come from the Catholic community from all parts of the country. Almost 50% of the other students are day scholars, a few local ones and the rest from private hostels that operate here in Mount Abu.
I am here to offer parents a chance to send their kids to one of India's top boarding schools. Will provide you with links to various sites for you to intimate yourself with information relating to the school.

The 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP fever has it's following here in this abode of the gods. Quite a few of us here are crazy over the game, and the one of whom I've penned a few lines is also a lover of football. He gave me a short poem in my mail the day before and I'm sure footer fans will appreciate his poem.

AFTER THE FALL OF THE TITAN

No one can take a hero’s place

No one can lift a hero’s mace

No one can match a hero’s pace

Then how could one ever imagine

Not to feel the dudgeon

After being bludgeon

After the fall of the titan

Squeezed like a python

Throttled and tightened

And it was not David

That made them feel livid

To be accused to be timid

Like a lion they had roared

All along the victory road

Till some one mowed

Losing all that they did hone

After breaking of their back bone

The world could hear only their moan!

Magical April 2014

It’s the end of April 30, 2014. India is about to weather one of its most significant political upheavals this summer. Could this lead to a more stable and honest government, resulting in a better frame of mind for the country? The world is observing and waiting in keen anticipation for the results of the election that will end in mid-May 2014.
The Abode is beginning to stew with the summer temperatures already touching 40oC.  Temperatures in the plains are at 45 C and there have been unexpected heavy downpours and hail, disappointing farmers. May usually has rain, but this year there have been heavy downpours and hail in many places, disappointing farmers. il is a mystic month here in this oasis as flowers bloom in myriad hues, and birds in large numbers have their first offspring for the season. The arrival of summer beckons tourists from around to escape from the scourging heat of the plains and take some respite in this Abode.
Mount Abu the destination for all seasons welcomes pilgrims and tourists to relax in its inhospitable environment. And remember the summer festival is close to the corner.
WELCOME TO THE ABODE OF GOD.

The जागरण or vigil on top of the hill. Mt.Abu

In India, anything can happen

Across the hill, in a dusty old shack,
There lives a wench, with six small brats,
She’s possessed, and “it's” hell to see,
Her body swaying beyond physical constraints,
Her long black hair being whirled in frenzy,
Her husband and kids “its” plain to see,
Cannot comprehend what nature his in-store them.
They have sent for the soothsayer to constrain the beast,
That beats in the body of this young female who’s looking to be free.

I have observed over the last few years, this young woman who apparently appears to be possessed going into a frenzy on many an occasion. Now whether she’s possessed or suffering from some medical disorder I have no idea, I for one dismiss the idea of possession, it’s probably some medical disorder.
Frequently, soothsayers are called in to see if they can contain the beast within. Last night they had the जागरण  or vigil, as is commonly known in this part of the world, to see if they could oust the affliction that has been tormenting this young woman for so long . Thankfully their vigil was on a low key otherwise it’s normally accompanied with loud beating of drums and speakers that keep the whole neighborhood cussing from getting a proper shuteye.
I believe at the end of their vigil till, after sunrise, they will then offer an appeasement as sacrificing a black goat. If I observe no more strange happenings across the hill and a woman free of her ills, it just may make me a believer that there is more to the human psyche than meets the eye.
