Inspiring walk By Tom Quinn an Australian Mount Abu

Tom Quinn makes a record in Mount Abu

Congratulations Tom you are the Man.

Tom Quinn has done Mount Abu proud by being the first "BLIND" man to walk one of the toughest trails of Mount Abu. We from Mount Abu salute your resolution and feel thrilled that you have been the first blind man to accomplish this jungle trail, from GuruShikar to Vastan a distance of 26 odd kilometers.
Charles guide is one of our best guides from the Abode of the Gods accompanied Tom his wife, his sister-in-law and her daughter. They stayed overnight in a remote village in Sher Goan. The next day they completed the trek at Vastan.
Tom was honoured by our D.F.O Hemendra Singh, deputy forest conservator, and ranger Bharat Singh.

India's future lie in the hands of education Mount Abu.

Young Kids taking the initiative 2018

What a wonderful sight on New Year's day.

Today when I stepped out into the New Year 2018 to record my first bird of the year I was welcomed with a wonderful sight. Village children sitting out in the rising sun warming themselves against the bitter onslaught of Abu's winter, and in each child's hand was a book from which they were studying. What an omen here was young kids preparing themselves for the future without being goaded to pick up their books and study. These small initiatives by children can make a big difference to the outlook of the future. This sincere gesture of these kids made my day.

Kaloo Boy  came visiting
Kaloo boy who was raised by us as a pup and had to be given away because of unforeseen circumstances came to a visiting out of the blue, as much to say "Hey, it's me come for my New Years treat." He sure made our day his excitement coupled with ours turned our cold morning into something of a Nirvana.

Leopards of Bera

Bera’s Battle: The Struggle Against Commercialisation Threatening Leopard Paradise

In Bera, people peacefully resist commercialism to maintain the tranquillity of their farmlands and untouched nature. Tourism focuses on changing from the outdoors to air-conditioned hotels and flashy resorts. The popularity of leopard safaris has affected the realism and tranquillity of these animals' natural habitats.

Bera is attracting large investments in hotels, and resorts as more people become fascinated by wildlife. The cost of commercialisation threatens the balance between tourism and wildlife preservation. I went to Bera on December 16, 2017, to see an old acquaintance, "The Leopard Man of Bera," I was disappointed to witness a profound shift in the Bera I once knew. Commercialization and population growth threaten the village's efforts to maintain harmony between tourism and wildlife. An awful state of affairs unfurled before my eyes. I witnessed an awful state of affairs as safari jeeps and their unruly passengers filled the previously protected environment from the secretive leopards roaming. My buddy Devi reported that he once counted 45 safari jeeps stationed, all excitedly expecting a glimpse of the gorgeous leopards.

Despite seeing a leopard and photographing a cub, the shadow of worry hung large. These quiet and secretive species may soon retreat farther into the void. The extinction of leopards is not just a tragedy for wildlife enthusiasts but also a catastrophic turning point for Bera.

As commercial interests continue to intrude on these superb creatures’ natural habitats, Bera’s future is in peril. The delicate balance between booming tourism and wildlife preservation is in danger.  Let us not lose sight of the intrinsic value of the untamed beauty that makes Bera special and worth preserving in our pursuit of riches. Another larger disaster might yet occur. The mining sector has set its sights on mining in the Bera highlands. Despite being kept at bay, they will have their way shortly because of the clot. Money Speaks!

Drive through one hamlet.

A typical village scene.

Crocodile at one of the water bodies.

I saw very few migratory birds at the various water bodies.

To fascinate oneself with leopards.
