Last
night two bear cubs while foraging on a mulberry tree overlooking an enclosed
well opposite the Ambika palace hotel, fell into the well. I wonder what
happened to the mother in her desperation at seeing her two cubs fighting for
their lives did not leap into it to save them. The well is slightly away from
the road so even if the cubs made a ruckus their voice could not be heard. The
cubs were discovered in the morning when folks went to fetch water. The forest
department was immediately informed. Department personnel came to the well and
retrieved the bodies of the two cubs.
I believe from reports I’ve received that the mother
is in the vicinity looking for her cubs. Abuites should be weary of her as her
temperament won't be on the milder side.
The Cubs were just a month and a half old.
A male and female cub.
