HAPPY HOLI TO ONE AND ALL FROM MT ABU.
On the last full moon day of the Hindu lung-solar calendar, we observed Holi. Holi is the end of winter and ushers in spring. We also celebrated the festival as a thanksgiving for a good harvest.
Spring this year has come to the abode earlier than usual. Most trees in Abu have already bloomed.
Today I witnessed a sad episode. The Red-wattled lapwing had a few days to go before its chicks were to hatch. The Daman, a whopping 10-footer plus awakened from his winter slumber and discovered the nest of the birds. The birds put on a fierce display of aggression towards the snake, but unfortunately, they could not protect their eggs from the slithering thief.
